The Geeveston Golf Club is set in amongst green rolling hills with the most superb vistas. On Saturday 13th May 2023 it became home of the Ronald McDonald House Charity Golf Day. Kermandie is proud to have sponsored the day with prizes for 1st Place, 2nd Place, Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive.

Sixteen teams of 3 took to the greens on Saturday morning whilst the last of the mist was disappearing from the surrounding hills, revealing a beautiful blue sky, perfect playing conditions. Golfers came from as far away as Kingston Golf Club and even from further south at Dover Golf Club. Of course, the highest representation was from the Geeveston Golf Club.

This event began a few years ago after one of the member’s of the Geeveston Golf Club experienced first hand the incredible work of the Ronald McDonald House. His family was well cared for by Ronald McDonald House and this fundraising is an opportunity for our community to sow back into this Charity. To date over $2000 has been raised from this day alone – what an outstanding achievement (final figures still not quite in)!

Kermandie even had it’s own team! Don Kennedy (a regular customer), David Nethery (our Executive Chef) and Wade Oates (one of our Barmen) teamed up to take on the 18 holes at Geeveston Golf Club. Unfortunately, they didn’t win any prizes but had a great day. We are grateful for their willingness to represent Kermandie and support this Charity Golf Day.

Congratulations to the following prize winners:

  • First Place for the day was a team comprising of: Nick Gane, Paul McKibben and Barry Dawson
  • Runner’s Up was a team including: Samantha Sinclair, Luke Sinclair and Nick Studley
  • Longest Drive Men: Nick Studley
  • Longest Drive Women: Penny Fielding
  • Four people won Nearest the pin on various holes: Shane Lancaster (on the 2nd), Brad Carver (on the 8th), Phil Holms (on the 11th) and Samantha Sinclair (on the 17th).
  • Longest Putt: Barry Dawson
